A New Start I Wasn’t Expecting

I first learned about Minds Matter Philadelphia through my school, and I decided to join because I wanted to try something new, something different from my usual routine. At the beginning, I was nervous. Meeting new people can be intimidating, and I did not know what to expect walking into the program.

But as I started getting to know the other students and mentors, something changed. The community helped me open up. Little by little, I felt more comfortable communicating, sharing, and being myself. The people around me were kind and genuine, and that made it easier to step outside my comfort zone.

Minds Matter also changed how I think about college and the future. Instead of feeling tense and overwhelmed, I learned how to be more relaxed and present. I was encouraged to enjoy what I have now, not get consumed by worry, and to try things I would not normally do. It pushed me to think outside the box.

This has been my first year in the program, and I can honestly say I would choose to do it again. Minds Matter has helped me in ways I did not expect, and I am grateful to be part of a community that feels supportive, welcoming, and real.
