Mentoring in a Space Built to Support
I have always enjoyed being a mentor, both in my career and in my community. Minds Matter Philadelphia gives me a chance to bring those two things together in a setting that is collaborative, resource-rich, and genuinely centered on students.
One of the reasons I value this program is the level of organization and support that the Minds Matter Philly staff provides. Week after week, I am impressed by what they create for students and volunteers alike. The structure is strong, the resources are there, and the environment makes it easy for volunteers to show up consistently and focus on what matters: supporting students.
The Saturday afternoon sessions, in particular, stand out. They are positive, productive, and fun. There is real energy in the room when students and mentors are working together, building relationships, and moving students forward in tangible ways.
That combination of strong support, thoughtful programming, and a welcoming community is why I keep coming back, and why I want others to know about this opportunity.
